The Secret Circle is the best supernatural show to hit our Tivos since Charmed, but with so many power trippin’ witches and magical tree houses, we can hardly keep track of who’s on the fast track to becoming Lord Voldemort! It’s time to figure out which witch is on top in the Secret Circle power play.
Here’s how this bidnezz is going down: We’ll list each character’s gains and losses per episode. No. 1 is at the head of the pack!
ETHAN
Ranking: 9
Gains: Ethan Conant (Adam Harrington) may have been half-drowned by Charles Meade, but we have a feeling behind that surface of drunken slobbery lies a powerful witch waiting to break free.
Losses: He clearly belongs in a rehab center that specializes in hunky alcoholics who happen to be retired witches.
MELISSA
Ranking: 8
Gains: Melissa (Jessica Parker Kennedy) helped Faye show Cassie’s who’s boss by lighting her car on fire.
Losses: She didn’t have the power to put the fire out, so she’s somewhat of a weakling. Basically, Melissa is Gretchen Weiners to Faye’s Regina George. Wait, does that make Cassie... Lindsay Lohan? The horror!
DIANA
Ranking: 7
Gains: Ummm... She’s really pretty? (But apparently not pretty enough for her boyfriend.)
Losses: Poor Diana. Not only did she have her role as circle leader usurped by Faye, her boyfriend is in love with Cassie, and she almost got struck by lightening. Oh, and her dad is a serial killer. Sigh.
ADAM
Ranking: 6
Gains: Adam (Thomas Dekker) spent most of the first episode skulking around town looking withering and saving damsels in distress. But he also proved how powerful he is by putting out the fire that Faye started. Proof that even emo hipsters with guy-liner can be bad-ass!
Losses: Adam might not realize it yet, but he’s about to be caught in the middle of one tangled web of forbidden love. How is he going to break the news to Diana that he and Cassie are destined to be together?
NICK
Ranking: 5
Gains: Apparently, Nick (Louis Hunter) spends his evenings hanging out shirtless by open windows in the hopes that random hotties will check him out. But we appreciate his Jason Priestly vibe. Something tells us this boy rides around Chance Harbor on a motorcycle. Or at least a Broomstick made by Vespa.
Losses: We’re convinced that Nick is something of a perv. After all, he spied on Cassie while she was changing into her pjs!
DAWN
Ranking: 4
Gains: We didn’t see much of Dawn (Natasha Henstridge) in the pilot, but as far as we can tell she’s a serial liar with a thing for serial killers. Sounds like a winning combo to us!
Losses: We have some doubts about Dawn’s abilities as a high school principal. How is she going to manage a school full of hormonal teens when she’s busy taking over the world?
FAYE
Ranking: 3
Gains: Faye (Phoebe Tonkin) spent the majority of this episode wandering around town raising her eye brows at people and looking generally deranged. Plus she almost killed both Cassie and Diana (Shelley Hennig), proving that she has the power to take lives.
Losses: Faye was way too excited about turning off those boat lights. Come on, they’re just lights. Flip a switch like a normal person. Also, Faye seriously needs to brush up on her spells. “Stop this storm” doesn’t even rhyme.
CHARLES
Ranking: 2
Gains: Where to begin? Charles (Gale Harold) showed Chance Harbor who’s boss by killing off Cassie’s mom and half-drowning Ethan because he dared to mention that Cassie’s dad was a “bad man.” Of course it helps that he’s super charming on the surface and –– dare we say it? A bit of a DILF.
Losses: Other than a questionable hairdo, this guy has nothing to complain about.
CASSIE
Ranking: 1
Gains: Cassie’s (Britt Robertson) day went a little something like this: 1) Eye-sex an Elliott Smith lookalike. 2) Run through forest aimlessly. 3) Have a sexy experience with a few thousand water droplets. 4) Smile sweetly as every single person in town tells you how pretty you are. 5) Stop a tropical storm by glowering at in a see-through dress.
Losses: Her mom up and died without bothering to let her know that she’s a witch. #supernaturalproblems
